The traveler’s palm, scientifically known as Ravenala madagascariensis, is a distinctive plant native to Madagascar. Despite its name, it is not a true palm but actually belongs to the family Strelitziaceae. The traveler’s palm is known for its striking appearance, with large, fan-shaped leaves arranged in a single plane on top of long, slender petioles. The leaves can reach up to 10 feet (3 meters) in length and have a distinct paddle-like shape.
